Coffee Break

I saw you before you had arrived
to meet me at the corner.
You were running
so late I had stopped eyeing my watch.
I was nearly dying
to see that arresting smile of yours.
Together, we flew to the refuge
of the coffee shop.
You had to let me go
to order two lattes while you saved our seat.
We spoke and you once again opened your heart
to this captivated lunch mate of yours.
You then dubiously said goodbye
to the final spoonfuls of cream.
And we parted for the last time
before we will again leave our desks tomorrow.
